I was just at an airshow this morning in Lexington, NC.
I saw an aiplane with the callsign N6QR on it.
I went over to talk to the pilot and asked him how he got his amateur callsign on the plane? He loooked at me like I was the stupidest person on earth and told me he wasn't a CB'er and that the FAA had given him that registration for his airplane. I asked him if it was being used by anyone else and he told me that "registrations" are one to a customer.
I came home, ran N6QR as a Ham license and I got Adam Mentes of Pine Grove, California.
I went to an aircraft data base ran N6QR and got a Jerry Supple Aircraft Sales Company out of Winston-Salem, NC.
Is the multiple issue of callsigns a regular practice?
Does the the FCC not coordinate with the FAA or have I discovered a "glitch" here or what?
I sure would hate to receive a violation notice for something that someone else did.
