For 4 & 6 call letter area hams seeking an extra class 2x1 or 1x2 vanity call, the pickings are very slim. Right now about 5 % of hams have addresses which are "Out of Area" (OOA) of their "traditional" call areas. Questions:

1) With increased societal mobility and less rigid attitudes among newer hams, is this overall OOA % likely to continue to increase ?

2) For Extra Class vanity calls, given that many have retired to other areas, is the "out of area" OOA % higher for the Extra Class category?

3) If you were an Extra Class, had an 1x2 vanity call, and then moved into a new call area, would you change your call letters so as to follow tradition and seek a new call to comply with the new call area? Yes? No ? ..and why would you choose yes or no ?

I am wrestling with the idea of taking on an out of area (OOA) vanity call.... thanks Paul
