Here is a brief history of callsigns in the 2nd call area from 1958-78.

1958-62 Original WA2s

1962-66 Original WB2s

1966-71 Filling in the holes. I got my Novice call, WN2BSU in June of 1971, and became WA2BSU after upgrading to General in April of 72.

1971-75 More filling in the holes

1975-78 Fifth series.

Now the tricky part:

In early 1978, after the fifth series ended, some WD2 calls were issued until the current system went into effect in March of 78.

In an interesting geographical irony, I have a friend who is an original WB2 from 1962. If he lived in Connecticut or Pennsylvania at the time, he would've had a K call!
