With all due respect, if you say that you "can't seem to see that info readily anywhere", you didn't try very hard.

The home page of VHQ has a link to "Help Reference." Halfway down that page, in the section on Filing a Vanity Application, the current fee is listed.

On the left side of every VHQ page is a set of links, just under the Unique Call Lookup. The fourth one listed is "Help." If you click that you'll see, among other items:

-ARRL Vanity FAQ: If you click this, you get to an ARRL page. The fourth paragraph on that page has a link entitled "FCC Regulatory Fee."
-FCC Vanity System Information: If you click this, near the top of the page, you'll see "For the current fee amount, see Wireless Fee Filing Guide (pdf)", and the pdf is a link.
-VHQ Land Mines: If you click this, you'll get a list of common errors. One of these is called "Application Filing Fee."
-VHQ Vanity Fee Info: If you click this, you'll get a page that includes links to the FCC and ARRL fee pages mentioned above.

Having said all that, all those pages say that the current fee is $12.30.
