Thank you. From what you said, I belive the simple answer to my question is no. It comes down to just the order that applications filed on the same day as my application are processed.
The specific issue I am contemplating is as follows:
The date I filed makes my first choice a few days behind behind one applicant who looks like they will most likely get it. On the same day that I filed one two others filed with the same call as their first choice. So even if the one person doesn't get it for some reason, I will probably be in a three way competion for that call. So the odds are very slim but I have some chance at my first choice.
My second choice is already issued now so that is out of the question.
So it looks like it will probably come down to my third choice. It looks like me and one other person filed on the same day for it so I am guessing I have about a 50% chance (assuming chance on my first choce is almost nil).
The problem is that I noticed with my third choice that the person who I am competing with on that call is trying to get their initials and it is their first and only choice. Since this is my third choice after all, and while I like the call, I am considering being nice and withdrawing my application so this person will be able to get their initals. I would hate to stand in the way with that.
On the other hand, even though I consider my odds on my first choice very remote, I don't want to lose that by withdrawing if I don't have to. I considered modifying the application to remove that third choice, but that would reset the date and any slim hope for my first choice would be a whole lot more remote.
Hence my question about the person listing the call as their first choice. If I knew that it being my third would leave preference for the person who set it as their first, then I can be secure in knowing that if I don't withdraw my applicaiton that it wouldnt interfere.
Unfortunatly this isn't the case. I need to think on this. I am leaning to withdrawing at this point if there isn't any other way to keep my third choice from interferring with this person seeking to get their initials.
