If you feel offened by the term "vanity" then I think the point is proved. To replace the term with "incentive" is, I think, not accurate. What it the incentive? You only get to pick among call signs you're authorized. If you are incented to get your Extra in time to file for a soon-to-be-available call, then that's incentive licensing at work. The only explaination for plunking down your $14 and filing the app is vanity.
